Heather's Boudoir Experience | Nashville Boudoir Photographer
by Nashville Boudoir Photographer Caley King Newberry
I’ve gotten to work with Heather a couple of times as she’s joined for one of my past-client mini sessions as well. Heather was one of the first people I saw truly transform during her boudoir experience, and it’s a session I’ll never forget. Sometimes, when we do something scary, what’s on the other side is truly remarkable. Here’s a few thoughts from Heather!
Tell us a little bit about your life.
I’m a single woman in my early 30s. I have devoted the majority of my life to helping others, beginning at an early age developing skills that have led to my profession as a physical therapist at a nursing home. I love, love, Leo the elderly. We have so much to learn from them if we’d just take the time. I also love to travel and my goal is to visit every continent and all 50 states. I also love attending live events from concerts to porting events and festivals, but one of my favorite things to do is sit on the porch with my family, talking and spending time with them. What made you decide to do a boudoir session?
My boudoir shoot was a 30th birthday gift to myself. I wanted to commemorate the occasion by doing something a little out of the ordinary. How did you feel going into your session?
I’d by lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. I had never done anything remotely close to a boudoir shoot, so the idea of posing for the photos gave me some anxiety. The moment I got there and met Caley, though, that all melted away. She instantly felt like my new best friend, and I was certain I had chosen the right photographer! What was the hardest part of your session?
The hardest part for me was actually booking it. Committing to doing something I initially perceived as scary was a big deal. I didn’t do it as a gift for a husband or anything, so committing to spending that money on myself was also a huge deal. I’d do it all over again, though! In fact, I’ve been itching to do another shoot with Caley! What was your favorite part of your session?
The whole thing, beginning to end. I know that’s a terribly vague answer, but it’s true. From the initial meeting to hair/makeup and then on to actually shooting was perfect. I loved how Caley helped me step by step with posing and was so encouraging through the whole process. Was there anything that surprised you about your experience?
The biggest surprise was how comfortable I ended up. being with the whole process. I was also surprised at how empowered I felt after the fact. I truly felt like a new woman, ready to face my thirties more confidently than before. How did you feel when you saw your images?
Seeing my photos was an emotional yet exciting experience for sure. I had never viewed myself as “sexy” and at times even struggled to see myself as beautiful. I think every woman has those thoughts at times, but now if I’m having a day where I’m exceptionally hard on myself or find myself comparing myself to other women, I pull out my album and remember this experience and all I learned about myself. Photos are powerful!
Thank you so much for sharing, Heather! Let’s do it again soon!
